Davos is probably one of the best known, and certainly one of the largest, ski resorts in Switzerland and it is also one of the world's leading destinations for snowboarding. The large town of Davos, which is split into two parts, Davos Dorf and Davos Platz, thrives on a mixture of tourism and commerce all year round.

Davos boasts an impressive 320 km of downhill skiing and offers 110 pistes with 38 ski lifts which are capable of transporting 64,400 skiers per hour. A lot of the slopes are reached by either funiculars or cable cars plus it is possible to ski or board to and from the resort since the pistes are above 2,500 metres which also means skiing is possible for most of the season and makes Davos ski holidays some of the most sought after in Switzerland. The resort is suitable for all levels of skiers with 3l blue slopes, 47 red and 34 black slopes and opens from 19th November to 1st of May depending on snow conditions. What is unusual for the expert skiers here is that the black on-piste slopes are mainly on the lower sections of the mountains, leading through forests, since they are steeper at the bottom than at the top.

Skiing is divided into 6 main areas with Parsenn being the largest and most popular. Located on the other side of town is Jacobshorn which is regarded by many people as the fun mountain and very popular with snowboarders. There are 4 funparks in the area with the one in Jacobshorn having a quarterpipe and plenty of rails. Should you want to try your hand at cross country, Davos has over 75 kms of trails for you to choose from.
